The best winter weekend getaways in New England

Posted On: 11/20/2018

December is right around the corner, and you know what that means — New England is getting cold. Snow is coming, scarves and hats are on, and hot drinks are an imperative. While you may be mourning the loss of the summer heat, there are still many things to do in the Northeast – sledding, skiing, and exploring charming towns and villages are just a few of them. We have pulled together a few of our very favorite places to escape to during the winter months.

Stowe, Vermont is the picture perfect definition of cozy winter escape. This charming town is full of shopping, dining, and winter recreation sites — it’s home to one of the best ski resorts in New England, Stowe Mountain Resort. Still not convinced? The Von Trapps from the famous Sound of Music even made it their home. When you visit, make sure to check out the local restaurants. We’re particular fans of Plate, Hob Knob, and Stowehof Lounge, but there are plenty of options for diners of all tastes and requirements.

Hopping over to Maine, the town of Bethel is famous for its cross-country skiing, and laidback and artistic local culture. Here in Bethel, you’ll find incredible local restaurants, all the outdoorsy activities you could want including ice fishing, dog sledding, and snowmobiling, and adorable inns and bed and breakfasts. The Bethel Inn Resort is one of the best around, but be sure to make your reservation soon!

For those who want New England charm along with some retail therapy, North Conway, New Hampshire offers the best of both. As the home of major outlet hotspots such as Settlers’ Green, there are also charming New England stores such as Zeb’s General Store. Cranmore Mountain Resort is not far away if you’re in the mood for some skiing, and there are all the restaurants you could want.

Enjoy your time in New England, and be sure to book your transportation soon — and stay warm!
