What better way to spend the dog days of summer than at a summer fair! And with fall right around the corner, there’s no shortage of local festivals and carnivals around New England. We’ve pulled together the best of the very best, so mark your calendar, pack a picnic, and make your transportation plans!
For the seafood lovers out there — and in New England, you’re in great company — the annual Charlestown Seafood Festival is taking place from August 2nd to the 4th in Charlestown, Rhode Island. Think delicious and buttery lobster rolls, creamy chowder, fish and chips, clam cakes, and a raw bar. Beyond the food, there’s also rides, tribute bands, bungee jumping, karaoke, and many more activities.
For boat lovers, the Antique and Classic Boat Rendezvous is coming once again to Mystic, Connecticut from July 27th to the 28th. Attendees will get a chance to see antique vessels, cruisers, sailboats, runabouts, and more. This nautical festival takes place all weekend, finishing with a boat parade on Sunday afternoon.
Another boat festival, Camden Windjammer Festival, takes place in Camden, Maine around the harbor from August 30th to the 31st. The festivities include parades, flag-raising ceremonies, live music, dance performances, and firework shows. Just a few days earlier from August 24th to the 25th, Salem Antique & Classic Boat Festival takes place in Brewer Hawthorne Cove Marina in Salem, Massachusetts. This festival focuses on vintage vessels from the 1920s to the 50s. The three-day event also includes a crafts market, local artists’ displays, old-time live bands, and a Blessing of the Fleet.
