Mix It Up: Fresh Ideas for Your Valentine's Day Date

Posted On: 02/11/2015

It’s that time of year again: Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and some of us are in need of an original and romantic date idea (no, ordering pizza to go with your red wine does not count). With the seemingly endless number of restaurants located in the Boston area, we figured we’d offer some slightly different options for those looking to break out of the typical V-Day routine. Mix things up with the list below…

  • Spirit of Boston Cruises Harbor Dinner
Fresh air lovers, rejoice. Get out of those stuffy bars and dim restaurants with a trip aboard one of the Spirit of Boston ships for dinner. Drink in the breathtaking views of Boston Harbor at night and show your date that, yes, romance can in fact be found on a boat.
  • Take a Trip to the Top of the Hub
Come for the food, stay for the view. Simply put, the restaurant located at the top of the Prudential Tower offers an unparalleled vantage point of the city of Boston. An award-winning menu and an elegant selection of drinks make this spot a Valentine’s Day favorite. Maybe not the best bet if your date is afraid of heights, but for all others it’s certainly worth the visit.
  • Get Artsy at Urban Art Bar
Does your better half fancy themselves an artist? Treat them to a night they won’t soon forget at South Boston’s Urban Art Bar. While you’re there, you’ll be walked step-by-step through a famous painting so you can recreate it with your own paint and brushes. Add in a few drinks and a bite to eat and you end up with one unique (and gratifying) night out!
  • ”Thorns” at ImprovBoston
If a fancy dinner is a little too serious for you, mix things up with two tickets to “Thorns”. This one night only show at Boston’s premier comedy venue puts a hilarious twist on what Valentine’s Day is all about. Tickets are only $15, making this a fun and affordable evening.
  • Howl at the Moon’s ”Love Sux”
If you’re newly single and not particularly happy about it, or if Valentine’s Day isn’t really your thing, Howl at the Moon has the answer for you: Their “Love Sux” party includes drink specials, games, live music, and a host of other people who feel the same as you. Special treats go out to those who bring a torn-up photo of their ex. Now that’s how to celebrate a breakup!
The only question left is: how are you going to get there? Don’t take that freshly-cleaned Valentine’s Day outfit on the T. Instead, book a luxurious limousine or black car with GO Boston Shuttle and show your date how to travel in style. After all, it's only one day of the year!
